About this place
When an appetite calls for okonomiyaki cooked on a hot griddle, beef tendon is a natural place to start. At Okonomi House in Kizuki Sumiyoshicho, tender beef tendon stars in classic okonomiyaki batters and noodle-stacked modern-yaki alike. Coarsely chopped cabbage gives the savoury pancakes distinct texture and substance, resulting in a homestyle, hearty disc that pairs effortlessly with a cold bottled or draught beer.
The teppan also turns out a dependable lineup of à la carte appetisers to order before or alongside the main pancakes. Meat dishes such as herb-grilled chicken, garlic pork sauté, and ginger pork sauté sit alongside smaller bites like asparagus wrapped in meat or spinach omelettes. Skewered chicken wings stuffed with spicy cod roe (teba mentai) and edamame make pleasant accompaniments for sipping a Kaku highball, lemon sour, or chilled sake.
The dining room is modest and intimate, well suited to a straightforward daytime meal or an unhurried evening around the griddle. In addition to dine-in tables, takeout is available. Please note that payment is cash only.
